Owl's Head View
Visualizing Maine
An Exploration of Light Photography Workshop
June 24 - 28, 2019
Summer in Maine conjures images of sun splashed rocky pine outcroppings, tranquil harbors
full of colorful lobster boats and a beckoning coastline. This is all for you to explore
photographically with Cindy Wilson and David Pinkham in June 2019. The focus of the
workshop is visualizing and capturing the summer light of Maine in all its personalities. Our
days start at sunrise with its soft ethereal light and conclude with the blue hour just after
sunset. Days include excursions to sites selected for their diversity in subject matter and daily
group critique. Your itinerary starts in Wiscasset with visits to nearby coastal enclaves and a
Civil War fort. Rockland is the next port of call. Once a hardscrabble fishing town, Rockland is
now home to galleries and restaurants. Yet there is still a touch of the old Maine to be found.
For those hearty and willing to continue on, there is an optional two day trip to Monhegan
Island. We travel by ferry to explore this island of craggy coastline and walking trails, and
incredible light.
This workshop is designed for those who want an immersive technical and creative
photography experience along with opportunity to connect, grow and share the experience of
Coastal Maine light with like minded enthusiastic students.
